Monday 8/1/07

First day back at work after 2 weeks off....what a killer getting up at 0600hr!!! But it wasn't too bad and managed to leave at 1530hr after starting at 0730hr. Energy levels and mood good today despite being tired, (due to lack of sleep last night). Always happens before going back to work..don't like going to bed too early in case I lie awake tossing and turning thinking about the next day. Should sleep ok tonight....but only after my fix of "Nip/Tuck"!!! Such a hilarious show!!

Ate well and stuck rigidly to my plan with better portion control...even had the 6 hard boiled egg whites with my salad for lunch...these are pretty gross I reckon. Sometimes I feel like dry reaching just trying to get them down...but if I don't think about it, it helps!! I just know they are so packed with protein and therefore so good for me!!! Besides, haven't had them since before Christmas.

Went straight to the gym after work and did a 10 minute light warm up on the elliptical before my weights session....chest, shoulders and back. By the way...I have a HUGE case of DOMS today in my quads and butt after yesterday's record breaking session!! Such a good feeling!! Gym was really busy though. Finished up with another 10 minutes on the elliptical, then a 60 minute fast walk with Bonnie and Dan.

Well..off to work again tomorrow and Wednesday...then heading down to the peninsula with Dan on Thursday for one night..should be good, weather's going to be hot!!

Sunday 7/1/06

Well...as it's turned out I've had a pretty good day.

Really pushed myself in the gym this morning...did a weights session, legs and arms. The first work they'd had in 10 days seeing I was away over the New Year. I did chest, back and shoulders on Thursday. And the gym is back into normal business hours from tomorrow thank god!!!! No more waiting around until after 8:00am in the morning!! I know I can do this and feel really motivated again tonight. I also did some light work on the elliptical both before and after my weights session, then some light stretching. Finished off with an afternoon hour long walk with the dog...Bonnie...my gorgeous whippet. And the feet/ankles are holding up well...I've walked 5 days in a row now...pretty good considering I couldn't do this without pain 10 days ago.
In fact I wasn't doing it at all...Dan was!!

And I have stuck rigidly to my plan today...the first time since before Christmas!! I've had a wonderful 2 weeks off work, incorporating a 5 day camping trip to the beautiful Murray river with Dan, (my man) and some friends. But...it's back to work tomorrow...reality will certainly hit at 6:00am when the alarm goes off.

The callendar may be telling me that my 12 weeks are up....

But....I've only just begun!! What a wonderful life we have....:) :)

Night,

Judes.

Day 84, Week 12

Today is the last day of my 12 week challenge..it's gone very quickly.

I'm sad this morning...I guess injury, Christmas and holidays have taken their toll on the scales. I have gained 2 kg since I last weighed myself 2 weeks ago. Not a good way to finish up.

So it's time to go back to the drawing board and set some new goals. I certainly don't feel any motivation to have any "after" photos taken now and I don't think I'll be completing my entry for the "New You Challenge"...I suppose I can enter another time, I'm not sure. Will check with Sue.

So I think I'll start another challenge ASAP as I have not achieved what I set out to. I must dispose of all temptation in my house and control portion sizes. I will be strong after dinner in the evenings...I can't seem to control my urge to eat when relaxing at night, (even though it is usually only an apple or 2).

Anyway...better head off to the gym even though I can't be stuffed at the moment.....

Week 9

Well here I am at the beginning of week 9.

I have woken this morning with more pain in both my ankles....I was going to go to the gym but figure I'll probably be better off resting. I should learn to listen to my body a bit more. I think I've probably been "over training"....ie, doing too much high intensity stuff and too much weight bearing activity with having to walk the dog every day too.

It's just so frustrating..the motivation is there but I'm restricted by pain. I just don't understand why I've had no problems up until a week ago, then bang, all of a sudden on Sunday night I could hardly walk!! My common sense is telling me I MUST rest and I know that that is the advice I'd give anyone else in my position. But my heart is trying to pretend that there is nothing wrong...ie, ignore it and it will go away. Ultimately I'll probably lose more training time if I persist at the moment. So rest it is.

One day at a time...Iwill be patient.
